Tour to the Grassland of Mongolia & Inner Mongolia

Today we will fly to Beijing, the capital of China. Meals and snack will be served on the plane.

Jul 08 (Fri)    Beijing
mongolia_1We arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport, where you will be greeted by the representative who will transfer to your hotel.

Jul 09 (Sat)  Beijing – Ulaanbaatar  (AB, L, D)
Today, you will take a direct flight to Ulaanbaatar which means the Red Hero in English, is the Capital and largest city of Mongolia. The city is an independent municipality, not part of any province, and its population as of 2008 was just over one million. Located in the north central part of the country, the city lies at an elevation of about 1,310 meters (4,300 ft) in a valley on the Tuul River. It is the cultural, industrial, and financial heart of the country.

Jul 10 (Sun)     Ulaanbaatar (Tour to Terelj National Park)       (AB, SL, D)
Drive to Terelj National Park. On the way we will visit Turtle Rock, caves and Dinosaurs Park. In Terelj Park, we will enjoy the charming scenery of grassland, mountain, river and forest. We will also have the chance to visit the local nomadic family. Lunch features Mongolia Stone Roast Lamb. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon and visit Ulaanbaatar Natural Museum.

Jul 11 (Mon)  Ulaanbaatar      (AB, L, D)
Today is the Naadam Festival Day. Naadam is a traditional type of festival in Mongolia. The festival is also locally termed "eriin gurvan naadam" which means "the three games of men". The games are Mongolian wrestling, horse racing and archery which are held throughout the country during this midsummer holidays. Women have started participating in the archery and girls in the horse-racing games, but not in Mongolian wrestling.

Jul 12 (Tue)  Ulaanbaatar    (AB, L, D)
Another Naadam Festival Day. Eating and drinking is the other "sport" during the Nadaam festival. People like to stop by drinking tea and arak (fermented mares' milk). Khuurshuur (cold meat pancakes), Ice cream, bread and fruits are other popular festival foods. There are also lots of Mongolian singing and dancing performances.

Jul 13 (Wed)  Ulaanbaatar – Hohhot    (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, a visit to Sükhbaatar Square and Parliament House, which is the central square of Ulaanbaatar. It is named after a Mongolian military leader and revolutionary hero, Damdin Sükhbaatar. Bogd Khaan Winter Palace Museum is the only remaining palace out of four residences where Bogd Khaan, the last Mongolian ruler, resided. This palace now displays the collection of personal belongings of the last Khaan and his wife. Take a flight to Hohhot in the afternoon.

Jul 14 (Thu)   Hohhot – Gegentala Grassland     (AB, L, D)
A nice drive to Gegentala Grassland. After arrival, pay a visit to an Inner Mongolian family and Aobao Mountain. You are invited to taste the dairy products which are made by these local people. Tonight, a special stay at the Chariot Yurt is arranged. There will be a Mongolian Bonfire Party after dinner.

Jul 15 (Fri)    Gegentala Grassland – Hohhot   (AB, L, SD)mongolia_2 
After watching the beautiful sunrise on Grassland, we are heading back to Hohhot for lunch. This afternoontour will include Dazhao Temple, the oldest building and the largest temple in Hohhot. Locally, people usually refer to it as the SilverBuddha Temple (Yinfo Si) for it is here that there is a rare silver statue of Sakyamuni that measures 8.2-foot-high. The next is Qing General Office which is set up to govern the northern part of China. And then visit the Temple of Five Pagoda (Wutasi) and Yili Industry Milk Production. Enjoy the famous Mongolian Lamb Hotpot tonight.

Jul 16 (Sat)  Hohhot – Resonant Sand Bay – Hohhot      (AB, L, D)

In the morning, drive to Erdos, the hometown of cashmere. We will have a chance to set our feet into the Gobi Desert. A fun time at Resonant Sand Bay, where we can join many different activities such as Sand Sliding down, Camel ride or ATV ride on the sand dunes. On the way back to Hohhot, we will make a stop at Meidaizhao Village and Meidai Lamasery. The lamasery was built by Alatanhan, chief of Tumd Mongolian Tribe of the Ming Dynasty, and it is, in fact, the combination of a town and a temple.

Jul 17 (Sun)   Hohhot – Beijing    (AB)
Today, we will fly back to Beijing. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. You may enjoy the last minute shopping before coming back home.

Jul 18 (Mon)   Beijing – USA   (AB)
Transfer to the airport and fly back home with all the fun memories.
