This great project then lasted for ten dynasties. This is how Mogao Grottoes were formed. Now having 735 caves, murals of 45,000 square metes (11.1 acres) and 2,415 painted sculptures of clay, it is the largest sanctum of Buddhist art including richest content in the world.
