Day 1 (Thu): Arrive in Beijing
Welcome to Beijing! Meet your local representative and arrive at your hotel. Relax and enjoy your first evening in the historic and vibrant capital city.

Day 2 (Fri): Beijing (B/L/D)
Today, you’ll visit the largest public square in the world – Tiananmen Square. Walk through the Gate of Heavenly Peace and view one of the world’s greatest cultural heritage sites, the Forbidden City, where 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties ruled the Middle Kingdom for nearly 500 years (1420-1911). Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to the Pearl Museum. In the afternoon, enjoy a walk around Summer Palace, known for the best preserved and largest imperial garden in China. In the evening, savor a specially prepared meal of Beijing Duck cooked to crispy perfection.

Day 3 (Sat): Beijing(B/L/D)
After breakfast, recapture the welcoming spirit of the 2008 Beijing Olympics at the two of its most iconic and magnificent venues - the "Bird's Nest" (Beijing National Stadium) and the "Water Cube" (National Aquatics Center) where Michael Phelps achieved 8 gold medals in stunning fashion. In the afternoon, we take you on a scenic drive through the countryside to China's most renowned landmark - the Great Wall. It is most famous for its ancient defensive walls used to ward off enemies from the north. On the way back, take a look inside the Jade Museum, the largest of its kind in the world. Back in the city, enjoy a relaxing foot massage followed by dinner and the fascinating Acrobatics Show.

Day 4 (Sun): (B/L/D)
In the morning, take a tour of 570-year-old Qianmen Dashilan, the first and oldest commercial street in Beijing which was refurbished in 2007. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven, a celestial monument built in 1420 where emperors went to worship heaven. We conclude the evening with a soothing foot massage and a chance for all to shop for men and women’s fashion at Silk Street. Dinner will be served at a scrumptious local restaurant.

Day 5: Beijing/Shanghai B/L/D
In the morning, we’ll hop on a plane from Beijing to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport at 8:00 AM till 10:00 AM. Your personal local guide will be at Hongqiao Airport to meet and greet you. Our next two destinations are Nanjing Road and Shanghai Chenghuang Miao (or the City God Temple of Shanghai), which forms the core of the old city of Shanghai. Today the "City God Temple" not only refers to the large temple complex, but also the traditional district of commerce in the city, surrounding the temple. There are over a hundred stores and shops in this area, and most of these store buildings are nearly a century old. After the dinner, you may join the optional tour on the Huangpu River night cruise to enjoy the night view of Shanghai (USD$30/person).

Day 6 (Tue): Shanghai/Suzhou (B/L/D)
After breakfast, ride a charter bus to Suzhou, which is often referred to by the Chinese as the "Venice of the East.” Tour one of the finest gardens in Suzhou, China in the Master of the Nets Garden. It is recognized with other classical Suzhou gardens as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The garden demonstrates Chinese garden designers' adept skills for synthesizing art, nature, and architecture to create unique metaphysical masterpieces. The initial garden was first constructed over 800 years ago and though its physical form has changed drastically since, the name and spirit of the garden still remain intact. The Master of the Nets is particularly regarded among garden connoisseurs for its mastering the techniques of relative dimension, contrast, foil, sequence and depth, and borrowed scenery. , which is famous for its beautiful patterns, elegant colors, variety of stitches, and consummate craftsmanship. Its stitching is meticulously skillful, coloration subtle and refined. Suzhou artists are able to use more than 40 needlework and 1,000 different types of threads to make flower, bird, animal and garden embroideries. Day 7 (Wed): Suzhou/Hangzhou B/L/D
After breakfast, we head to Hangzhou and start the day off on a cruise of the picturesque West Lake, which was created from a pearl that belonged to a phoenix and a dragon and proclaimed by the Chinese as “The Landscape Composed by a Painter.” Stroll along the lake's causeways and immerse yourself in its beauty. No tour to Hangzhou is complete without experiencing the world renowned Meijiawu Dragon Well Tea Garden. The first picked tea leaves of the new harvest or “royal tea” were once reserved solely for the Emperor and transported to him via the Grand Canal. The traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony will be demonstrated followed by a sample of authentic tea. The smooth appearance, fragrant aroma and sweet taste will be on full display. After dinner, enjoy a West Lake Night Show (optional activity USD $30/person), which tells an unforgettable romantic love story.

Day 8: Hangzhou/Shanghai B/L/D
After breakfast, we head back to Shanghai. In the 1930s, Shanghai was renowned as "the Pearl of the East.” Take a walk down Nanjing Road and the Bund, flanked on one side by the Huangpu River and on the other by hotels, banks, offices, and clubs that were the grandiose symbols of western commercial power. Afterwards, we will visit the impressive Shanghai Carpet Factory.

Day 9 (Fri): Journey Home(B)
After breakfast, prepare to fly home and share your incredible journey with friends and loved ones.

The 9-day Beijing and Jiangnan Tour begins every Thursday in Beijing local time

Terms:

  • Beijing is the first entry city
  • Guests who participate in the Jiangnan Tour (Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Hangzhou) or other tours may only join this 9-day Beijing and Jiangnan Tour on a separate occasion (re-enter the country) after a tour has been successfully completed. Immigration does not allow a foreign tourist to join two or more tours in one single entry.
  • This particular 9-day Beijing and Jiangnan Tour begins every Thursday in Beijing local time starting from September 2011.
  • Group size: 2 or more passengers
  • Tour generally accepts foreign travelers from the USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand who are permanent residents or passport holders.
  • Traveler(s) MUST follow the scheduled 9-day tour itinerary and join all tour activities
  • Adults and children should pay the same amount for gratuities and optional tours (children under 12 receive 50% off on select optional tours).  
  • We are not responsible for special room arrangement requests (i.e. depends on availability of rooms and up to the discretion of each hotel); if only one traveler occupies one room, then the traveler needs to pay a Single Supplemental Fee. 
  • Free shuttle services are not provided for travelers who arrive in advance or extend their stay (we would glad to arrange separate shuttle services at an additional cost). 
  • Day-by-day itinerary provided prior to the trip is preliminary and subject to change. We pledge to make every effort to follow the tour itinerary; however unforeseen situations do occasionally occur.

Q: If a traveler is 18 years and 1 day old, is he/she considered a child or adult?

A: Considered an adult.

Q: If a child is under 2 years old and requires a separate bed, will the child be
charged?

A: Yes, the child will be charged the same as children ages 3 to 17 who require
a separate bed.

Q: Is insurance included in the tour package fee?

A: The group fee includes insurance. For participants in the Beijing group, travel
liability insurance in China is 220,000 RMB per person.

Q: Are there any other fees we should expect to pay while traveling in China except
for the tour package fee?

Q: How are children under and over 2 years old charged for tips?

A: Tips for children under 2 years of age: $0
Tips for children 3 to 11 years of age: $45

Q: Can we choose not to participate in activities that are scheduled in the tour?

A: Everyone should attend scheduled activities listed in the itinerary. Since the
tours are paid for beforehand, refunds will not be given for travelers who don’t attend scheduled activities.

Q: If we arrive early or need to extend our stay in a hotel, can you assist us in
making a separate hotel reservation?

A: Yes, we certainly can. For Beijing, room rates are USD $120 per room per
night and in other cities listed in the itinerary are USD $100 per room per night.

Q: Can we join the group 1 or 2 days after the tour has begun? Can we depart
from the group in advance?

A: Yes, but a guest who arrives late or departs in advance must pay USD $60 per
person extra per day.

Q: Can guests who attend the Beijing-Jiangnan Tour continue on to participate in
other special offer tours on the same tourist visit to China?

A: No, foreign tourists can only participate in one tour per entry into China.
However, if guests would like to join other special offer tours, please register online for a separate occasion.

A: After guests have paid for the tour package and provided your flight information,
you will receive the pre-confirmation within 2 working days (Chinese holidays not included as working days). We will send you a final confirmation e-mail 7 to 10 days before the tour starts. The final confirmation e-mail will include hotel names and addresses, telephone numbers, tour guide information and other relevant information.

Q: If we want to participate in the tour but have not decided on a specific date to
join, can we still register online?

A: Yes; however, after you decide on a specific date, please e-mail us or modify the
fill-in date on the online reservation form. We may not be able to accommodate
your request if you don’t notify us or modify the date online in time.

Q: Are there space limits for the tour?

A: In order to ensure the quality of the tour, there is a currently space limit for the
time being. To secure a spot on the tour, please register early and make the
appropriate payment. If more than 10 people would like to register in your
group, please indicate this in the message box so that we can reserve the
appropriate spaces for you and make proper arrangements.

Q: How many people in a group are required to make up a separate tour group?

A: More than 25 people.
