Welcome to Beijing! Meet your personal local tour guide and check-in to your hotel. Relax and enjoy the evening in the nation’s capital.

Day 2 (Fri): Beijing (B/L/D)
Today, you’ll visit the largest public square in the world – Tiananmen Square. Walk through the Gate of Heavenly Peace and view one of the world’s greatest cultural heritage sites, the Forbidden City, where 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties ruled the Middle Kingdom for nearly 500 years (1420-1911). Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to the Pearl Museum. In the afternoon, enjoy a walk around Summer Palace, known for the best preserved and largest imperial garden in China. In the evening, savor a specially prepared meal of Beijing Duck cooked to crispy perfection.

Day 3 (Sat): Beijing (B/L/D)
After breakfast, recapture the welcoming spirit of the 2008 Beijing Olympics at the two of its most iconic and magnificent venues - the "Bird's Nest" (Beijing National Stadium) and the "Water Cube" (National Aquatics Center) where Michael Phelps achieved 8 gold medals in stunning fashion. In the afternoon, we take you on a scenic drive through the countryside to China's most renowned landmark - the Great Wall. It is most famous for its ancient defensive walls used to ward off enemies from the north. On the way back, take a look inside the Jade Museum, the largest of its kind in the world. Back in the city, enjoy a relaxing foot massage followed by dinner and the fascinating Acrobatics Show.

Day 4 (Sun): Beijing (B/L/D)
In the morning, visit the Beijing Vocational Institute of Local Opera and Arts and get to know more about the culture and history of Beijing Opera. Then, take a tour of 570-year-old Qianmen Dashilan, the first and oldest commercial street in Beijing which was refurbished in 2007. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven, a celestial monument built in 1420 where emperors went to worship heaven. Last, we stop for a chance for all to shop for men and women’s fashion at Yuanlong Silk. Dinner will be western buffet style.

Day 5 (Mon): Beijing (B/L/D)
After breakfast, there will be Taiji lessons that teach the essence of Yin and Yang (the flow of the universe). Then visit the Capital Museum which displays archaeological artifacts and reproductions of scenes from ancient Beijing. Shortly after, experience the world of Beijing's Hutong via rickshaws to tour the maze-like alleyways and neighborhood residences. This network of courtyard homes and narrow lanes traditionally linked the Old City. This unique tour concludes with a delicious meal served at a Beijing residence home. In the afternoon, enjoy a tea ceremony followed by a visit to Silk Street.

Day 6 (Tue): Beijing (B)
Today, feel free to leisurely explore this city on your own or join optional tours (Lama Temple, Beijing Zoo or Kungfu Show: USD $60/person per event).

Terms:

  • Beijing is the first entry city
  • Guests who participate in the Jiangnan Tour (Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Hangzhou) or other tours may only join this 7-day Beijing Capital Tour on a separate occasion (re-enter the country) after a tour has been successfully completed. Immigration does not allow a foreign tourist to join two or more tours in one single entry.
  • This particular 7-day Beijing Capital Tour begins every Thursday in Beijing local time starting from December 15, 2011.
  • Group size: 2 or more passengers
  • Tour generally accepts foreign travelers from the USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand who are permanent residents or passport holders.
  • Traveler(s) MUST follow the scheduled 7-day tour itinerary and join all tour activities
  • Adults and children should pay the same amount for gratuities and optional tours (children under 12 receive 50% off on select  optional tours).  
  • We are not responsible for special room arrangement requests (i.e. depends on availability of rooms and up to the discretion of  each hotel); if only one traveler occupies one room, then the traveler needs to pay a Single Supplemental Fee.

Q: What is the goal of this tour?

A: The goal is to provide foreign tourists the opportunity to experience China’s recent economic and cultural developments as well as over 5,000 years of rich history.

Q: If a traveler is 18 years and 1 day old, is he/she considered a child or adult?

A: Considered an adult.

Q: If a child is under 2 years old and requires a separate bed, will the child be charged?

A: Yes, the child will be charged the same as children ages 3 to 17 who require a separate bed.

Q: Is insurance included in the tour package fee?

A: The group fee includes insurance. For participants in the Beijing group, travel liability insurance in China is 220,000 RMB per person.

Q: Are there any other fees we should expect to pay while traveling in China except for the tour package fee?

A: Tips for children under 2 years of age: $0; Tips for children 3 to 11 years of age: $35; Tips for children 12 to 17 years of age: $70

Q: Can we choose not to participate in activities that are scheduled in the tour?

A: Everyone should attend scheduled activities listed in the itinerary. Since the tours are paid for beforehand, refunds will not be given for travelers who don’t attend scheduled activities.

Q: If we arrive early or need to extend our stay in a hotel, can you assist us in making a separate hotel reservation?

A: Yes, we certainly can. For Beijing, room rates are USD $120 per room per night.

Q: Can we join the group 1 or 2 days after the tour has begun? Can we depart from the group in advance?

A: Yes, but a guest who arrives late or departs in advance must pay USD $60 per person extra per day.

Q: Can guests who attend the Beijing Tour continue on to participate in other special offer tours such as the Jiangnan Tour on the same tourist visit to
China?

A: No, foreign tourists can only participate in one tour per entry into China. However, if guests would like to join other special offer tours, please register online for a separate occasion.

Q: When does this tour start and how often do the tours depart?

A: The tours began every Thursday in Beijing local time starting from December 15, 2011.

Q: Are there space limits for the tour?

A: In order to ensure the quality of the tour, there is a currently space limit for the time being. To secure a spot on the tour, please register early and make the appropriate payment. Q: How many people in a group are required to make up a separate tour group?
