      Xishuangbanna is located in the southwestern portion of Yunnan Province. Xishuangbanna is dotted with undulating towering mountains, which are blanketed with virgin forests. The area is inhabited by 10 Chinese ethnic minority groups, which include the Dai, Hani, Jino, and Bulang. The virgin forests are home to 5,000 tropical flora and fauna species, hundreds of which are very rare. 

      The area is best known for the villages of the Dai people, which are built along riversides. Their folk songs and dances are famous throughout China. The Dai Village at Manjinglan is a favorite among visitors. Visitors are invited to ascend the stilted bamboo cottages of the Dai. In the homes, the visitor is introduced to the local food, which ranges from sour to hot to sweet to fragrant to crispy. Visitors are also treated to not only the warm hospitality of the Dai people, but also a special performance showcasing their colorful traditional dress and their unique dance and song.

Manting Park lies in the south of Jinghong and at the convergence of the Liusha and Lancang Rivers. The Manting Buddhist Monastery lies at the edge of the Park. In the midst of the Park, are a white pagoda and an octagonal pavilion, which were built among the dense virgin tropical rain forest.

      The Ethnic Folklore Garden is located on the shores of the Liusha River. The garden is a series of different gardens and exhibition halls. There is the Exhibition Hall of Ethnic Minorities, Garden in the Air, Garden of Singing Birds and Blooming Flowers, Garden of Aquatic Plants, the Nationalities Stadium, Dancing Hall of the Ethnic Dai and Hani Minorities, and the Hall for Sheng Dances. The Garden features not only the natural beauty of the area, but also the cultures of the ethnic minority groups.

      The Natural Park Ganlanba consists of 4 Dai villages. The Buddhist monasteries and stilted bamboo cottages can be seen amidst a tropical landscape including coconut palms.
