Xiahe, often called "The Little
Tibet," is located in Gansu Province. The city is reflective of the diverse and colorful folk customs of the ethnic people, who reside in the Province.
The Labrang Monastery is the world's largest school of the Yellow Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The Labrang Monastery provides a perfect setting in which to study the Buddhist scriptures. The Monastery includes many institutes, the major of which is Wensi Institute. Students are required at least 15 years of rigorous study of the Five Principle Subjects. The Institute offers a Doctor of Divinity Degree, however, very few achieve this level of mastery of Tibetan Buddhist doctrine. Students from Tibet, Winghai, Sichuan and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region attend the Institute.
