Guilin is unquestionably one of the most scenic areas in China. The area is one of the most photographed areas in China, and has inspired poets and artists throughout the centuries. Guilin features serene landscapes, with Karst limestone formations jutting out of pastoral emerald fields, misty hills, and giant bamboo groves.

A visit to Guilin is best done via the Li River Cruise. The cruise sails past lush green valleys and extraordinary rock formations covered with lush foliage. The cruise ends in Yangshuo which is a delightful and quaint town to shop for hand made gifts and souvenirs. The town is surrounded by breathtaking vistas.

Reed Flute Cave, also known as the "Art Gallery of Nature," features caverns with magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formations illuminated by a gallery of multi-colored lights. The caverns lead to the expansive Crystal Palace Grotto, a chamber which accommodates 1,000 visitors. At the end of the grotto, one emerges to an opening, which provides a spectacular view of Guilin and its surrounding peaks.

Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbi) is situated at the convergence Taohua (Peach Flower River) and the Lijiang River. The naturally shaped rock formation resembles an elephant with his trunk extended into the Lijiang River. At the northern crest of the hill lies Samantabhadra Tower, which was constructed of solid brick during the Ming Dynasty. On the rock walls of the Water-Moon Cave, there are more than 50 sculptured friezes, which were created throughout the centuries.
